Maari will also be released in sister language Telugu soon. Maari has a running time of 131 minutes. The satellite rights of the movie were sold to Sun TV network.

Dhanush was initially rumoured to be seen as a tailor living in north-Madras in the film. Sources close to the film’s unit later said that he would be seen as a local slum chieftain for which he had to speak in Madras accent.His character was later revealed to be a person who is in into pigeon racing, similar to the one he played in Aadukalam (2011)

After tasting a success in 'Velai Illa Pattadhari' last year, actor Dhanush is back with his next film 'Maari'. This film has been produced by Dhanush under his Wunderbar Films banner with the collaboration of Radhikar Sarathkumar and Lisden Stephen.

The film marks Dhanush first time union with director Balaji Mohan, who has given clean entertainers like 'Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Eppadi' and 'Vaayai Moodi Pesavum'. Actress Kajala Aggarwal will be romancing Dhanush in this film and this is the first time for the 'Thuppakki' girl to pair up with the highly talented actor. Robo Shankar who has been appearing in small roles so far seems to be playing Dhanush's main accomplice in the film. Singer Vijay Yesudoss makes his acting debut in this film as the villainy police officer while Kaali Venkat is also appearing as a policeman.

Maari Story Plot:

Maari is about a bad-ass slum lord which is played by Dhanush. Kajal is his love interest. The story revolves around how Dhanush deals with the local problems and how he fights with the bad guys of the slum. Dhanush looks smashingly amazing in the trailer with his new look. Beautiful Kajal looks great with Dhanush. The story will be updated once the movie releases.
